5 Small Things That Help When Life Feels Heavy

Hey Gang,

There have been seasons in my life where I wasn’t thriving. I was surviving.

I recall times early on when I was working long days, trying to build something that wasn’t paying off yet, watching bills stack up and wondering if I was crazy for chasing a vision that hadn’t turned into stability.

I’d wake up already tired. Go to bed stressed. Tell myself to stay positive while quietly feeling the weight of it all.

Sometimes life becomes a long stretch of just getting through. Paying the bills. Showing up to work. Taking care of people. Carrying worries quietly. Putting one foot in front of the other when you don’t have much left.

If that’s where you are right now, there’s nothing wrong with you. Survival seasons don’t mean you’re failing. They mean you’re enduring. They mean you’re doing the hard, unseen work of staying afloat when the waves are high.

No one posts about these seasons. We celebrate the breakthroughs. The glow-ups. The success stories. But almost every strong person you admire had a stretch where they were just trying not to drown. Where dreams were put on pause. Where joy felt far away. Where life was heavier than usual.

And here’s what’s easy to forget when you’re in it: Survival is still progress. Getting out of bed is progress. Showing up is progress. Not giving up is progress. Even when it feels small. Even when it feels slow.

Some seasons are about building. Other seasons are about holding on. And both matter.

So if life feels heavy, try this: not to fix everything, just to steady yourself.

1. Start with one win

Not a perfect morning. Just one action. Make your bed. Drink water. Step outside. Small wins remind you you’re still in control.

2. Lower the bar on purpose

This isn’t the season for perfection. Showing up counts. Rest counts. Asking for help counts. Do less without guilt.

3. Move gently

Not a workout. Just movement. Walk. Stretch. Breathe. It tells your nervous system you’re safe.

4. Write one heavy thought down

One worry. One fear. One thing you’re carrying. No fixing. Just releasing.

5. Remember: this isn’t forever.

Survival mode makes everything feel permanent. It’s not. This is a chapter, not the whole story.

Move slowly. Rest when you can. Celebrate small wins. You don’t have to be thriving right now. Surviving is enough.

And if no one’s told you lately,  I’m proud of you for making it through today.
