Lately, life’s distractions have been pulling me away from what truly matters. I’ve found myself often immersed in things that don’t bring me closer to my destination. Misalignment creeps in silently, and before I know it, I’m veering off course.

Imagine a giant mosquito net around the things that matter, filtering out all the unnecessary complexities. Simplicity is elusive, always threatened by the chaos around us. Why does alignment so easily collapse? Why is it so easy to wander off track the moment we stop paying attention?

Being that this isn’t the first time I’ve found myself at this crossroads and likely won’t be the last, here’s how I’ve come to see the situation: realizing you’re off track is a win because becoming aware enables you to make adjustments. Sometimes, wandering off the path helps us understand where we truly belong. It awakens our intuition, loudly reminding us of the truths we’ve been ignoring. 

Life-changing revelations are often simple. Let’s do this ultimate self-awareness assessment:

1. Where is your finish line? Close your eyes. Do you see it? Can you picture it?

2. How are you spending your time? Are your daily actions guiding you to that finish line? Are the people you’re spending time with helping or hindering your progress?

Maybe it’s time to perform an audit on your life, shake the snow globe, and redefine your finish line.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s Gandalf wisely said, “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” This quote encapsulates everything. We are what we do and what we focus on. If our actions don’t align with our goals, it’s time for a change.

Expecting results without the right actions is a delusion. Trust me, I’ve danced around that flame many times, and every time I deviate from the truth I find myself wandering through a desert of discontent. But learning this lesson repeatedly is part of growth. It requires constant readjustment and a willingness to realign. 

Recently, I decided to stop calling myself an entrepreneur and started embracing the identity of an artist and creator. This change might seem trivial, but it’s powerful. We follow through on who we believe we are. Sure, there are entrepreneurial elements in brand building and content creation, but the magic lies in the message, the craft, the creation. This shift keeps me true to my passion—telling stories and helping people. 

So, reflect: What am I doing, and is it leading me where I want to go? If not, it’s not a waste of time. It’s a celebration of awareness and the next chapter. You can go anywhere you want to go next.

This moment is a rebirth, a fresh creation. What will you do with it? When you view your life from a broader perspective, can you align your steps with the star that lights up your soul?
