Are You Ready To Find Inner Peace?

A few weeks ago, I ventured on a trip with family and friends, staying in a secluded cabin about an hour from Zion National Park in Utah. Amidst this haven of natural beauty, Ashliegh, a family friend, made an intriguing observation—even in our quiet sanctuary, miles and miles away from the hustle and bustle, the air was still filled with noise.

As we sat and listened, we noticed the distant hum of planes every ten minutes, their engines whispering through the canyons from 10,000 feet above. The sound of cars on a far-off two-lane road seemed to resonate right outside our window. It was a startling revelation to realize that even in such remote isolation, true silence eluded us. 

Asliegh mentioned an article about the few places on Earth where complete silence exists, and it struck me just how deeply we are enveloped in noise and complexity. Our daily lives are a constant hum of subtle chaos, one in which we rarely separate ourselves from. 

The value of that trip was a powerful reminder of the importance of finding moments of true silence. It’s not about living in complete isolation, but recognizing that the world constantly bombards us with noise, ideas, and distractions. These external forces shape our thoughts, often without our conscious awareness.

Peace doesn’t just fall into our laps, it must be actively sought out. We need to pull back the curtains covering our true selves. Without this effort, life can simply carry us downstream, and we might mistakenly believe it was our own swimming that created the change.

Control requires separation from the everyday noise. We must carve out time to distance ourselves from what doesn’t matter so we can focus on what truly does. By identifying and removing the noise, we can rediscover true silence and, in turn, our true selves. 

Here’s to making time for genuine separation, to understanding and appreciating the silence that reveals our deepest selves.
