The Heaviest Thing You Carry Isn’t on Your Back—It’s in Your Head.

You want to know what’s holding most people back?

Not their schedule. Not their obligations. Not even their limits.

It’s the belief that discomfort = danger. That when life gets heavy, we’re doing something wrong.

Let’s rewire that thinking right now.

This week, I loaded up a 35-pound ruck and climbed Camelback Mountain. Voluntarily. No one made me do it. I chose it.

Why? Because I’ve learned that when you manufacture discomfort, on purpose, you build the strength to face anything.

You don't wait for the storm. You train in the rain.

Here’s what I learned on the mountain:

🥾 Step 1: The Base (aka, The Mental Meltdown Moment)

You show up. Park the car. Strap on the weight. And immediately, boom:

“What am I doing?”

“This is ridiculous.”

“I’m not ready for this.”

Sound familiar?

That voice in your head loves comfort. But you didn’t show up to play small. You showed up to get stronger.

⛰️ Step 2: The Ascent (aka, The Grind)

Halfway up, your back hurts. You want to quit. And all you see ahead is MORE.

Here’s what you do: You stop looking at the whole mountain. You focus on your next step.

One step. Then another. And then another. That’s how you climb mountains and that’s how you build a life.

🌄 Step 3: The Summit (aka, The Perspective Shift)

You hit the top. And no, it didn’t get easier. YOU got better.

The mountain didn’t move. Your mindset did.

That’s the power of choosing the hard thing. You gain clarity, confidence, and a view you EARNED.

🧭 Step 4: The Descent (aka, Bringing It Back Home)

Here’s the part no one talks about: Coming down matters just as much.

Because what you learned up there? You bring it back down. You apply it to your day, your work, your relationships.

And the weight? Still there. But it feels lighter—because YOU are stronger.

🔥 Final Word:

You don’t need a full plan. You don’t need to feel ready. You just need to start.

Pick your mountain. Strap in. Move your feet.

Let the challenge change you.
