The Moment Struggle Became My Greatest Gift(1)
Some gifts don’t come wrapped in ribbons.
They arrive disguised as shaking legs, short breaths, and the voice in your head screaming, “Please stop.”
I had one of those moments recently.
There I was, fifteen minutes into a workout. My core on fire, my arms hovering midair like they forgot what gravity was, and my body begging to quit. Not in a dramatic way, just in that quiet, convincing tone pain tends to use when it wants you to walk away from growth.
And I almost did.
Until I heard a voice, soft at first, then unmistakable.
My trainer, Eric, in the same hold, whispered a prayer.
Not a desperate plea. Not a complaint. But gratitude.
“Thank you, God, for this moment… for the strength to grow… for the chance to suffer… because I get to.”
And in that instant, everything inside me shifted. Because he was right.
That burning, trembling, breathless moment wasn’t a punishment. It was a privilege.
We live in a world that sells us ease like it’s the holy grail. Soft landings. Comfort zones. Fast fixes.
But what if the real treasure is what we fight for?
What if the ache, the sweat, the hard conversations, the terrifying leaps; what if that’s the good stuff?
Because you don’t suffer in the gym because you hate yourself. You suffer because you love who you’re becoming.
And that doesn’t just live in reps and holds.
It’s in the dream that wakes you up at 3am. It’s in the business that tests your resilience. It’s in the relationship that teaches you how to stay when it’s hard.
Every meaningful thing you’ll ever build will ask something of you.
And you get to say yes.
So today, wherever you are in your journey, maybe your body’s shaking, or your heart is, remember this:
You’re not weak for struggling. You’re brave for staying in it.
The pain? It’s just proof that you’re alive and reaching. The resistance? A signal that you’re close to something real.
You don’t have to do hard things. You get to.
What a gift. What an honor. What a life.
Continue to live inspired,
