Why "Dreaming Big" Isn't Enough
Hey there,
Let’s talk about that feeling. You know the one—that moment when your dreams feel so real, so vibrant, it’s like you could reach out and make them happen right then and there. But then, life happens. Distractions creep in, responsibilities pile up, and somehow, those dreams quietly slip into the background, waiting for you to wake up and make them real.
So, here’s the question—what are you doing today to bring your dreams to life?
Henry David Thoreau nailed it in Walden when he said:
“If you’ve built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them."
Dreams are meant to soar—but they also need something to stand on. That’s the balance we all need to find: keeping your head in the clouds while your feet are firmly planted on the ground, building step by step, moment by moment.
I’ll be honest—there were times I sat down to write or create something and thought, I just don’t feel it today. I’d close my laptop, tell myself it was fine to wait for inspiration and walk away.
But then I picked up Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art, and realized inspiration isn’t something you wait for—it’s something you create by showing up. Even when it’s hard. Even when it feels impossible. That’s how you lay the foundation under those castles in the air.
It’s a daily pursuit. If your goal is to become more fit, the key is showing up at the gym every day—whether you feel like it or not. If your goal is to grow your social media following or provide more value to your audience regularly, it’s about consistently creating, analyzing, and adapting.
When you break down the pursuit of something monumental—your own “castle in the air”—into a series of small, consistent actions, it suddenly feels achievable. Each step you take becomes a building block, and life becomes more manageable.
Small Steps, Big Impact
Life-changing progress doesn’t come from dramatic, sweeping changes. It’s the tiny, deliberate actions that make all the difference:
Spend 20 minutes a day working on your craft.
Cut out one distraction that’s stealing your focus.
Add one productive habit to your routine.
These aren’t groundbreaking moves, but they’re life-changing. You don’t need to reinvent yourself overnight; you just need to be intentional with your time and consistent in your efforts.
Dream Big, Build Bigger
Think about the masterpiece you want to create. Your vision is essential, but it’s just the beginning. Dreaming is the first step, but the real magic happens when you show up and do the work, brick by brick, day by day.
So here’s my challenge to you: take one small step today. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be real. Keep your eyes on the mountaintop, but stay focused on the next step in front of you.
If you’re up for it, share the step you took today on your Instagram story and tag me at @your_world_within. I’d love to re-share it with the community so we can inspire and hold each other accountable as we work toward growth and fulfillment together!
Your dreams are waiting. Let’s go build them.
With you every step of the way,
Eddie
